“Haddock & salmon pieces in a crème fraîche and leek sauce with spinach, topped with a creamy potato and pea crush.”
This is the first of three reviews of a new(-ish) line from M&S of “stuff” in a pot. Overall I am very impressed with these meals, particularly this one. The meal is layered with the sauce on the bottom, then the fish, spinach and the crushed potatoes and peas on the top. The sauce is well-seasoned and the fish plentiful and fresh (none smoked). The spinach is raw and comes out of the microwave just wilted. The potatoes and peas are simply crushed and mix well with the sauce. It’s a bit high in saturated fat (53% of your GDA), but just don’t have a breakie roll in the same day and you’ll be okay. The advantages of refrigerated meals over frozen are perfectly represented here. The layering would never work, the spinach would have to be cooked and the potatoes mashed. The meal in its present form would be impossible to freeze. For someone used to frozen meals this would be a revelation. Highly recommended.
